Not a huge tasting compared to the wine tasting in November but still worth it If you are into craft beers there is a large selection at the back of the store. Stopped here on my way from Boston to NYC to pick some things up for the holidays. To top it off they even have tastings on the weekends! Super cool!
The mother of all liquor stores!!! They literally have anything and everything you could possibly need to stack your liquor cabinet. We found everything we needed and i asked for a product and the associate went out of her way to help. Actually we ran into my brother and his wife who were going ti the same party as us. Typical prices for a Massachusetts store. I went there when there was a beer fest going on which made it very crowded but I would return. Huge selection of beer, wine, and liquor, well-organized and easily found. They have some great employees who can help you with wine selections as well. For the few things they dont they can get it in for you within a few days. For a decent price all around and friendly service, I definitely recommend a trip here if you are local or if you are planning a trip to Sturbridge, Massachusettsįor better prices than anyone they have most everything in alcohol. 1,200 beer varieties 1,500 wines and 3,500 varieties of spirits. Dont forget to pick up a bag of popcorn while youre there! Yum! Even when looking for a special wine or rare vintage liquor they are staff knows about it and direct you to where you can find it. Wow! If you are looking for it they got it! Ive never seen a larger liquor store with greater selection. Place is a little beat up but overall worthwhile, Ill stop in again if im ever passing through. I like in Maine and drove down, I thought they had a great selection of booze and wine as well as craft beer. I called about a discontinued liquor they had at another location and they shipped it quickly and everyone involved was very polite. Highly recommended to both the new wine lover and the experienced connoisseur. Joe has also even searched out wine for me that he doesnt normally carry (unusual, as the store is huge). Seminars are also offered from time to time, featuring notables in the wine trade and/or education on different wine producing regions of the world. They offer in-store wine tastings from 5 tables to 30+ tables many times during the year, to help increase your learning about and appreciation of wine. Joe and Adam and staff there are exceptionally friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful.
We have extremely loyal and regular customers who are very frugal and appreciate the - more.My experience is in the fine wine category. The most enjoyable part of the job is seeing us retain key employees who enjoy coming to work everyday and the customer service we provide from top management to the entry level cashier. It's just not a fun place to work and the former owner had started this from the ground up but unfortunately did not pass that work ethic along to his children. The new management is unfortunately immature and lazy and consistently demonstrates poor management skills which has put a lot of strain on our key employees. We are a team that all pull our weight no matter what the store or location need. I currently travel to Sturbridge 4 - 6 days a week from Quincy depending on time of year and would like to reduce that commute. I have the respect of our key employees and the daughters, but it is a dead end at this point and I am looking to make a change and get closer to Boston. I get along with everyone but have my disagreements with the new direction my friends daughters have taken. I have stayed on to help maintain the culture my friend wanted but his family is different then he was and don't understand the needs of the chain to keep thriving in an ever changing competitive business. His daughters are taking the business in another direction and changing the company culture.
He sadly died in June of 2013 unexpectedly. I left my previous job in 2012 managing multiple states for a large liquor supplier, to help a friend out that I have dealt with in business for over 23 years.
